We tested dozens of formulations before we hit the right note. Once we knew we had the magic formula, we looked at how to improve it. We researched local remedies and the ingredient that kept coming up was…… Frankincense.
We knew frankincense smelled gorgeous. It was when we started looking at the literature that we realized we might have found not just a fragrant additive but an astonishing active ingredient.
Known as al-luban in Arabic, it has been traded for over 6,000 years, and is used widely in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine and has been used for centuries as an effective natural anti-acne and anti-wrinkle remedy. We discovered that some of its uses included dealing with blemishes on the skin, scars and wounds, and dry and mature complexions.
I was sold, and the process of incorporating frankincense oil into our cream began. We balanced the heady earthiness of the frankincense oil with sweet gentle orange oil and found the perfect balance. The frankincense turns a beautiful cream into an extraordinary one.
