Camel Milk

Milk has long been a revered cosmetic ingredient. The Bedouin have known of the curative powers of camel milk for thousands of years, traditionally using camel fat and milk to protect their skin from the sun. Scientific studies in the Middle East and Europe have proven the unusual medicinal properties and healing benefits of camel milk.

Camel milk contains valuable alpha hydroxyl acids which plump the skin and smooth fine lines. It also has a high vitamin and mineral content, especially rich in vitamin C (three times more than cow milk) which is important for tissue repair, as well as 10 times the amount of iron (compared to cow milk) and vitamin A, B2 and D, potassium, magnesium, iron, copper, manganese, sodium and zinc. Additionally, camel milk contains protective proteins with powerful anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties.

Our all natural soaps are entirely free from man-made ingredients They contain no parabens, no sulphates, no artificial colours or fragrances, providing only a pure, moisture-rich cleansing experience for the face and body. Each bar of our Castile soap contains a minimum of 25% Camel milk with our luxury ranges containing a minimum of 33%.

Our soaps are made the old fashioned way – with love! Not by machine; instead they’re carefully crafted by hand in small batches using the centuries old ‘cold process’ method.  This means that no heat is used during the process, which ensures that none of the goodness and healing properties of our pure ingredients is destroyed.

Like many good things in life, the cold process method is actually quite simple.  We mix our oils and camel milk together with a saponifying agent, which starts the process of turning these raw ingredients into our gorgeous camel milk soaps. The exact ratios of oils and camel milk is a bit of a secret – lets just say that we do a lot of research and run many trials before we approve our products.

As the raw ingredients start the process of becoming a soap (saponification) we gently blend in the finest natural essential oils. It’s these essential oils that give our soaps their fabulous fragrance and aromatherapy properties.

Still in liquid form, the soap mixture is poured into moulds and allowed to settle and solidify. The solidified soap is turned out of the moulds and the bars are hand cut to size.  At this stage the bars are moved into a temperature and humidity controlled drying room where they are left to air dry for approximately 6 weeks. They’re only disturbed roughly two weeks into this drying time when we hand stamp our logo into the soap bars.

Once the soaps are cured, and only if we’re completely satisfied with the batch, are they hand packed into our hallmark bags.
